St. Ann’s Prajyothi Welfare Centre Bengaluru, is situated at northern part of Bengaluru IT city where, people of different Cultures, Caste and religion live amicably. The northern part of Bangalore District was semi-urban and rural that lacked educational and industrial development. A large number of migrants are coming here in search job mainly for daily wage especially from northern part India such as Bihar, Assam, Manipur, and West Benagal. It is a matter of survival for them. In order to build vibrant academic environment and expand opportunities for socio-economic change in this geographical area, Prajyothi Welfare centre initiated some firm steps especially for Women and Children. The Prajyothi Welfare Centre located at Ben’s Royal Woods Nagenahalli Cross, Kothanur P.O., Bengaluru – 562 149. It is one fast growing location in Bengaluru. It has become a life changing town with multistoried buildings like skyscrapers, restaurants, shopping complexes and a number of hostels. At present, the locality is densely populated and highly polluted. Prajyothi Welfare Centre situated from distance of Bengaluru city Majestic Bus stand to 18 Km and from KempeGowda Air Port to 26Km.

St. Ann’s Prajyothi Welfare Centre is working for the all-inclusive development of the women who are distress, destitute, abandoned, Orphan and Semi orphan simultaneously; the organization is giving adequate emphasis on comprehensive development of children who are in need of care and protection and in vulnerable situation. Normally, the children in the age group of 4- 18 years leave their homes due to poverty, abuse and dysfunctional families, peer influence, attraction towards city, Overcrowded homes, alcoholism, Abandoning, School Phobia, failure in school, fine-tuning problem, fear of teacher, Migration, unemployment, Massive urbanization, unequal distribution of wealth, Hence the broad perspective of this proposal is envisaged to discuss various schemes interconnected with counselling and rehabilitation, Vocational Training, formal and non-formal education of “street girl children, while much thrust has been given on the project intended to set up street children foster care home.In coming days we also plan to rehabilitate the women in crisis such as women who run away from their homes due to various problems of life. They will be helped through counseling and be reunited to the family if it is fitting.

Vision : Prajyothi Welfare Centre envisions providing a secure home experience and opportunities for integral growth for deprived and dejected girl children as well as women in crisis and vulnerable situations by healing and empowering them through education, counseling, and skill training.

Our Goal : The girl children and women who are in need of care and protection especially street children, semi-orphan, neglected and dejected children who are in vulnerable situations are to be transformed into full pledged responsible persons.

Objectives : To provide safe, secure & happy home To provide quality education To inculcate self-confidence, self-esteem and self-determination. To provide opportunity to gain back their lost childhood; To provide appropriate counseling which help them to lead a dignified life; To provide life skills like critical thinking, time management, taking on challenges etc.; To provide skill training.

Outcome objective : Prajyothi Welfare Centre envisions healed, liberated, educated, empowered and skilled girl children and women who have handled and transformed their lost childhood experiences, deprivations and vulnerabilities into new opportunities for their future and are especially motivated in reaching out and saving children who have similar experiences.

Activities Education: We have 31 children studying from LKG to B. Com. All the children are educated in English medium School. 27 of them go to St. Joseph English High School, three of them go to Christel House Learning Centre and one girl is studying B. Com in Christ Jayanthi College. Most of the children are doing well in their studies. They take leaders role.

  • Individual Care Plan: Each child has the care plan. Their growth is evaluated every fifteen days.</br> </br>
  • Counseling: The children are given group and individual counseling to accept the life situations and grow as full pledged citizens. Srs. Georgina and Selvi meet the children once in fifteen days and the details are recorded in their register. Fr. Adaikalam, Gunellian priest comes to counsel the children as well as he gives spiritual direction to them.
  • Motivational class: Various motivational class and movies are shown to children through whom they are able to cultivate values for life.

Celebrations: Every event is celebrated in our home. We celebrate birthdays, St. Ann’s Feast, Founder’s Day, Diwali, Bakrid, Children’s day and Christmas. Celebrations like birthdays energize them to look at the positive side of their life and thus develop positive attitude towards life

Creative Arts: Children are given amble opportunities to develop their talents and abilities like dance, painting, music, singing, reading, public speaking, mono act etc. children take chance to decorate the boards on birthdays and other important days

Parents Meeting: With the sole purpose of maintaining the relationship with the children parent/guardians meetings are organized once in six months

Family Visit: We have visited most of the children’s houses and we could understand the struggles and difficulties they undergo to bring up the family
