The Society of the Sisters of St. Ann is founded by Fr. Wilhelm Meyer in Switzerland in the year 1909 as a response to the crying needs of the time especially for the women and children.In the year 1927, four pioneering missionaries from Switzerland set foot on the Indian soil and spread the flame of love through their exceptional services; as the years passed by the Society grew in number and spread across the country and abroad rendering its services in the fields of Education, Health care Environment and various other Social work according to the needs of the place. Aptly attending the needs of the weaker sections of the society,especially- women and children, the poor and the marginalized the Sisters of St. Ann’s Luzerns and staffs are engaged in various services for the care of orphans, differently abled children, infected and affected with HIV/AIDS, women empowerment programmes like self-help groups,Domestic workers movement, Preservation and conservation of water, soil and biomass etc. The organization aimed at not to gain anything for them but to give to everything of them. The organization involves in multi-faceted activities that favor of poor and the marginalized, women empowerment, literacy, vocational training for young educated and uneducated girls and to provide job opportunity by making sure of their comprehensive development, home for physically challenged, rehabilitation centres for children and elderly people, de addiction center, old age home with palliative cares, rehabilitation centre for HIV/AIDS infected and affected, home for street, begging, destitute children, are results of this of unconditional dedication and commitment.

The organizations farsightedness, its spirit of courage and conviction is evidently seen in the charism “LIVE TO REVEAL THE MERCIFUL LOVE OF GOD.” In fidelity to the founding Charism, the sisters respond to the needs of the time and involve themselves in the works of compassion and mercy and thus spread the legacy of their co-founder ‘For the love of God serve the needy’.
